Corrections

Because its voice is loud and far-reaching, The Saginaw Valley Journal has an ethical responsibility to correct all its factual errors, large and small, promptly and in a prominent reserved space in the newspaper.

The Journal welcomes comments and suggestions, or complaints about errors that warrant correction. Messages on news coverage can be e-mailed to mail@saginawvalleyjournal.com or left at 206-350-1700. Comments on editorials may be e-mailed to letters@saginawvalleyjournal.com or faxed to 206-203-1614.

Correction — Sept. 27, 2011

Megan Potts voted YES to appoint Kaitlin L. Foran to the SVSU Student Association, and Daniel Chapman voted NO. The Journal reported the opposite, and regrets the error.

Correction — Dec. 6, 2010

The G.P.A. requirement to maintain a President’s Scholarship at SVSU is 3.25, down from 3.5; not, as reported, 2.25 from 2.5.

Caption Error — Nov. 15, 2010

A photo in the Nov. 15 issue contained an incorrect caption, which referred to former Student Association representative Ted Goodman in lieu of ‘Finding Clyde’.

Editor’s Note — Nov. 8, 2010

Additional compensation paid to faculty members was included with the figure labeled ’salary’ in our 2010 supplement on faculty members’ pay, including things such as check requisitions and mobile phone usage reimbursement. This was a mistake and The Journal regrets the error. We’re working to correct the report and ensure that any subsequent salary supplements are labeled more clearly in the future.

The information is meant to be used as a reference tool. It is not a reflection of a particular editorial stance by The Journal. There is a common misconception in academia that members of faculty are overpaid and under-worked. The Journal does not share this sentiment.
